Instrument Maintenance & Refurbishment

Given the unique nature of Irish traditional instruments in their nuances of setup, Ealaíontóir and our associated craftsmen will happily provide services to adjust, maintain, and restore a variety of instruments, these services will include:

• Irish Whistle "Tweaking" - a process by which the head of the whistle is loosened to allow fine tuning, length of the body is slightly adjusted if off tune, and the fipple airway is adjusted to limit air turbulence to ease note stability
• Uileann pipe reed adjustments - depending on the material base, location of construction, and seasoning process of reeds, both drone and chanter reeds may require adjustment in a new environment to maximize stability and playability
• Uilleann pipe bag adjustments - our piper can happily assist with tying in stocks to attach them to the bag, patching leaks, or modifying and building bag covers to protect the hide of your instrument
• Violin modifications - we are able to assist with tailpiece, chin rest, and bridge upgrades or placement to enhance tone and playability or set up an instrument, some fine tuner and tuning peg modifications available on request
